Psychic Kids

It might sound odd for the first time: how can a kid be a psychic? But against all odds, there are quite a few children in this world believed to be psychic, and many tend to really believe them.  So what is a psychic kid?

If we are to believe in psychic children, we have to believe that these kids are born with something special, a kind of sixth sense that we don’t all possess. We have to make it clear, that in best cases one can only improve its psychic abilities but the essential thing is to actually be born with them. You won’t ever develop psychic powers unless you were born with them.


The characteristics of a child who seems to have these special powers are also very different from a “regular” child. These kids often present a high empathy to all the things around, they tend to have an expanded awareness or a second sight. There are cases when a psychic child says that he is not alone, that he has some kind of guardian angel, or an imaginary friend. Many of them even claim to have travelled to other dimensions. People often consider these sings as being weird, not normal and usually the person who sees them is considered to having some kind of mental disorder.

That is why parents, who have a child that is acting somehow different than other children, tend to persuade their children to let go to their occurred feelings and visions. They are afraid of having a so called “problem child”.  So instead of trying to really understand, or even helping them in developing their special senses, they repress the child’s wishes hoping that the signs might go away. Many times though, these actions are for the worst, for both parents and children.

Special kinds among these psychic kids are the “indigo children”. It is said that children who were born especially after 1970s, are the New Age children, and they are at some kind of higher state of human evolution.  People often say that these children have an indigo colored aura, that’s where the term indigo children come from.


Beliefs about indigo children may vary, but most opinions agree that that these kids have an ability to read minds; they have increased empathy and creativity. They are also said to be very sensitive, having a determined sense of self-definition. Almost all of them feel a strong need to do something significant in changing the world. These are strong willed persons, who don’t like to be told what to do; they are rather independent, work alone if needed but never submit to a system they do not believe in.

They can easily detect others' thoughts they are empathic and mostly attracted to mysterious, spiritual or paranormal matters, and they are always opposing the unquestioned authority.

It is up for us to decide if we believe in such things or not.  After all, somehow we all might feel that we want to make changes in the world, we all can have strong wills and we all might find mystery quite attracting. So a possible theory is that somehow we might all be “alleged psychics”, the only difference is that some are maybe just at a higher level than others. Nothing is really proved yet.
